Men's Cashmere Scarves

Cashmere wool made items have always been the symbol of high-status and inculcate pride in their owners. The name 'Cashmere' is derived from the old name of Kashmir and the wool originally comes from a goat found in the Himalayas. These goats are also raised in Mongolia, Iran, Tibet, India, China, and some other countries.

Being an animal of high-altitudes, this goat grows very fine hair to keep its body warm and this fiber is used to make a number of items including the Cashmere Scarf. The best of the fibers is taken from the throat and the underbelly parts of the goat. It would be interesting to know that the goat grows two layers of the hair. The outer one is coarser than the inner one and it's the inner fiber which is commonly called 'Cashmere'.

To separate the two, the mechanical process of dehairing is used. With the onset of the spring season, these goats begin to shed their winter coat naturally which is then combed and carded. This natural wool comes in shades of the natural, white, and brown colors.

Cashmere fiber is spun into yarn, then dyed in the desired colors and knit into various items of clothing like sweaters, jerseys, scarves, etc. The Cashmere Scarf is worn by men and women alike. Being light in weight and exceptionally warm, it is easy to carry, very comfortable, and can be worn over other articles of clothing like sweaters, jackets, etc.

The Men's Cashmere Scarves can be worn over the head or tied around the neck. A designer Cashmere Scarf can come with some exceptionally beautiful knitting patterns, prints, and surface ornamentations adding further to its uniqueness and hi-end fashion statement.

The Cashmere Scarf can come in various proportions of the Cashmere wool. And, the more the percentage, the higher is its price. The percentage is normally mentioned on the care-labels attached to the articles. If this information is not provided, there are high chances that you might be misled on this fact. In the US, there are clear specifications about what type and dimensions of fibers can be labeled 'Cashmere'.

These can be checked and tested in the labs. The Cashmere Scarf, like other scarves, comes in different sizes and the shapes of Squares and Oblongs. The sizes normally vary from 140-170 cm in length to 15-30 cm in width.

If you happen to be in the possession of this prized article, you cannot afford to be careless in its care and upkeep. The wash, drying, ironing, and other care instructions are mentioned on the labels and shall be followed scrupulously. At the minimum, you would be required to wash these by hand and not in machine. At best, though, it is dry-cleaned and stored in an airtight a plastic bag. This fiber is eaten up by the moths so one has to guard against them while storing.

Here are some of my favorite men's cashmere scarves that I recommend to you:
